Master of Nursing

The Master of Nursing (MN or MSN) is a postgraduate degree for registered nurses who want to advance their careers in healthcare. The program usually takes 1–2 years and focuses on advanced clinical practice, research, leadership, and healthcare management.

Students can specialize in areas such as critical care, pediatrics, mental health, or nursing administration. To apply, candidates typically need a BSc Nursing degree and nurse registration.

Graduates can work as nurse practitioners, educators, administrators, or clinical specialists, gaining better career opportunities, higher salaries, and leadership roles in the healthcare field.

POST BASIC DEGREE IN NURSING

The Post Basic Degree in Nursing (P.B.B.Sc Nursing) is a 2-year undergraduate program specially designed for nurses who have completed General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM). This course helps diploma holders upgrade their academic qualification to a bachelor’s degree level and strengthen their professional skills.

The program includes subjects like medical-surgical nursing, community health nursing, mental health nursing, child health nursing, and nursing research. It focuses on enhancing clinical competence, leadership ability, and critical thinking skills.

To be eligible, candidates must have completed GNM and be registered with the nursing council. After graduation, students can work in hospitals, clinics, community health centers, and educational institutions. The degree also opens pathways for higher studies such as a Master of Nursing and better career opportunities with improved salary prospects.

Bachelor of Nursing

The Bachelor of Nursing (B.Sc Nursing) is a 4-year undergraduate degree program that prepares students for a professional career in healthcare. It provides comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory, clinical practice, patient care, and medical sciences.

The course includes subjects such as anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, psychiatric nursing, and community health nursing. Students also undergo practical training in hospitals and community settings to gain hands-on experience.

To be eligible, candidates must complete 10+2 with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). After graduation, students can work as registered nurses in hospitals, clinics, community health centers, and healthcare organizations. The degree also provides opportunities for higher studies like a Master of Nursing and career growth in specialized nursing fields.

General Nursing & Midwifery

General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) is a 3-year diploma program designed for students who want to build a career in nursing and maternal healthcare. This course focuses on providing basic nursing education, patient care skills, and midwifery training.

The program covers subjects such as anatomy and physiology, medical-surgical nursing, community health nursing, pediatric nursing, and midwifery. Students also receive practical training in hospitals and healthcare centers to gain hands-on clinical experience.

To be eligible, candidates must complete 10+2 (usually with science or arts subjects, depending on regulations). After completing GNM, graduates can work as staff nurses in hospitals, clinics, maternity centers, and community health services. They can also pursue higher education such as Post Basic B.Sc Nursing for career advancement.
